Step 3 for Your Lead Generator

This is the third step for creating leads with your automatic lead generator.

It is important that you have permission to send the email to this business owner. It is also important that you make some kind of contact to let them know you are creating a listing for them.

It is easy to get the business name and address, but to get the owners name and email address is not always available unless you call to get it, so here is a script you can follow to call the business:

The best way to get leads for this lead generator is to drop off a single page brochure to the business in person, introduce yourself as the local portal director, ask for permission to send an email with more information about the portal, and get the owner's business card and email address. If it is a rainy day or you just are nervous about going door to door, then you can start with the telephone script below.




Calling the business, XYZ company answers: Hello, XYZ company.

You: Hello, this is _______ I am the local city director for the Winter Haven Florida Internet Portal and we have created a free business listing for your company. Would it be ok to send an email so you can verify that the listing is correct?

XYZ Company: Certainly you may.

You: Thank you! What is the name of the owner or president of the company?

XYZ Company: His name is Mr. William Gates.

You: Thank you. And could you give me the email address please?

XYZ Company: Yes, it is bill@microsoft.com

You: And what is your name please?

XYZ Company: This is Percy Marks.

You: Thank you very much, Percy. I am sending it right now. If the listing is not correct my contact information will be on the email and also there is an easy form to contact me on the internet portal also. I will also send a brochure to your business explaining the benefits of your listing in the portal. The address I have for your business is: __________________________ is this correct?

XYZ Company: Yes that is correct.

You: Ok, thank you very much! I appreciate all your help!

XYZ Company: You are welcome, thank you for calling XYZ company.

End Phone Call




Hey, that was pretty easy wasn't it? Now when you click the "finish" button above your email is automatically sent to the XYZ Company.

Now what you will want to do is wait about 3 days and drop a flyer directly to the business in person. Take your presentation booklet with you just in case you need it. You are dropping off a 1 page flyer only, not the entire presentation booklet. The presentation booklet is for you to show as you talk to the owner not to give away. When you go to the business in person here is what you say:




Your visit in person to the business



You: Hello my name is ________________ I am the local city director for the Winter Haven Florida Internet Portal. I believe I spoke with you on the telephone, are you Percy?

XYZ Company: Yes, I am Percy, I remember speaking with you.

You: Great! I mentioned I would drop off a brochure explaining the benefits of the free listing for your business in the Winter Haven Florida Internet Portal. Here it is, can you please make sure that Mr. William Gates receives this?

XYZ Company: Certainly.

You: Do you know if my email arrived ok so you could verify that we entered the information correctly?

XYZ Company: Yes it did.

You: Great! Please let Mr. Gates know I will be available if he has more questions, and I will be in this area again next week and would like to follow up if that is ok?

XYZ Company: Yes that is fine.

You: And one more thing, we created a link for directions and a map to your business to help people find you easier, I hope that will help you get more customers!

XYZ Company: Well that should certainly help, thank you!

You: Thank you Percy, you have a nice day!

XYZ Company: Same to you! You are certainly a friendly person, it has been very nice meeting you.

You: That is very kind of you to say, I will be around next week, goodbye!




There are many scenarios that could happen during this visit. One would be just exactly as described above, but be prepared, the owner may be the one that greets you at the door and may ask you more about what the Portal. If this is the case he/she is inviting you to give them a presentation and you can use your presentation book to explain the benefits of the portal, premium listings, power pages, and the P.B.C.

Another scenario could be that the business owner hears you speaking to Percy and asks you for more information. Again, this would be an invitation to show the presentation.

Another scenario could be that Percy sends you back to see the business owner. In this case you would just apologize for interrupting, and that you did not intend for Percy to send you back, but did you get the email to confirm that the listing was correct? If the owners says yes, you could ask if it would be ok to check back in next week so you could explain more of the benefits of the portal.

The purpose of these methods is to gain access to the owner of the company without being pushy, but instead to be invited to give your presentation. You will need to be able to adapt and be quick on your feet, just be polite and always let them know you will be contacting them later if they are not ready at that point to hear your presentation.



After you fill out the form above an email will be sent to your prospect, and it will be added automatically into your prospect management database. Your reports will remind you of the status of this prospect and what you should be doing next to get to the sale.
